The brief was to curate our own edition of a design magazine called NOTCOT. My concept was inspired by Japanese fashion aesthetic which is know as Yami-kawaii. 

People tend to shine the brightest when they are most vulnerable. Inspired from the fashion aesthetics of Yami-kawaii where people dressed in that way to show that despite how much they are struggling, through what they are wearing is their way of fighting and overcoming that struggle.  That's how they express themselves and that's how they show strength in trying to survive through each and every day of their life.
